REQUIREMENT TO DISCLOSE DONATIONS
As a candidate for the local government election receiving donations totalling $500 or more, details are required to be publicly disclosed to the Electoral Commission of QLD within 7 days of receipt and are available to view on the ECQ website. Prohibited donors scheme. Queensland law bans political donations from property developers and industry bodies which have property developers as the majority of their members. It's illegal to make or accept these prohibited donations. It's also against the law to ask for someone to make a donation on behalf of a prohibited donor. The ECQ administers the Prohibited Donors Scheme. If you're unsure about whether you can make political donations, you may apply to us for a determination. According to the state's electoral laws, the Electoral Commissioner (or delegate) may only determine an applicant isn't a prohibited donor, or make no determination.
